The new modification of the Russian anti-aircraft missile system "Pantsir-SMD-E" received additional short-range missiles instead of automatic guns. Dmitry Antonov, a representative of the Instrument Design Bureau, noted that during the development, specialists used the technical groundwork of the "Pantsir-S1" complex.
The main distinguishing feature of this complex is the absence of cannon armament and the use of a mixed ammunition load of missiles.
According to Antonov, the complex uses new short-range missiles. The total ammunition load of one vehicle is now 48 missiles, which became possible due to their small size.
In addition, the updated "Pantsir-SMD-E" received a new radar system that provides the required characteristics, and at the same time has smaller dimensions.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the modernized 2S25M self-propelled anti-tank gun received improved armor protection to increase resistance to impacts from small-caliber cannon shells. It is being prepared for adoption into the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
