A technology for producing high-strength ceramic materials has been developed at the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). They are suitable for building bases on the Moon, the university's press service reported.
Scientists have found that the key to forming the optimal microstructure and properties of ceramics is the heating rate during sintering.
A high heating rate leads to more intensive consolidation of the material. It allows to obtain denser and stronger ceramics, which is important for construction in extreme lunar conditions.
The study used rocks from the Baranov and Gorely volcanoes. Their chemical composition is similar to the soil on the Moon.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the DIMA robot may become the first Russian on the Moon.
