A workshop building of the Roscosmos enterprise caught fire

On the evening of July 30, a fire occurred at the production facility of NPO automatics (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) in Yekaterinburg. This plant produces control systems for launch vehicles, which are installed in Soyuz-2 vehicles.

The fire engulfed the plant at the end of the shift. According to preliminary information, no one was injured. Firefighters evacuated 22 people, 12 of them from the burning workshop.

The mechanical workshop was on fire. The fire started from the roof, covering an area of 800 square meters. The walls and roof of the workshop collapsed, after which the fire spread to the neighboring workshop.

The General Director of the enterprise, Mikhail Izyumov, stated that there was no threat of poisoning to the citizens. All services of NPO automatics, together with firefighters, worked to extinguish the fire.

The Sverdlovsk Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that a building with chemical products was on fire. Rescuers checked the air at the scene and did not find any excess concentration of harmful substances.

The open fire was extinguished two hours later, after which the structures continued to be wetted.
