The Russian Gnessin Academy of Music (RAM) has created a cyber suit for musicians. This was reported by the press service of the "Priority 2030" program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The development is a software and hardware complex. It will help develop muscle memory when playing new instruments and help musicians recover from injuries.
The wearable neural interface provides effective assimilation of motor skills through neurotracking and functional electrical stimulation. As part of the project, a neurocalibration virtual reality quest was created and tested, allowing tactile sensations to be reproduced with an accuracy of up to 85%, and an experiment on transferring motor skills of playing drums was successfully completed.
The novelty became one of the first projects of the laboratory of applied research and development of the Center for the Development of Creative Competencies of RAM. In the future, specialists from the Gnessin Academy of Music and the Center for Bioelectric Interfaces of the Higher School of Economics and the Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnologies of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia plan to conduct a study of the effectiveness of neurostimulation in musical pedagogy.
