Aurus faces production problems: sanctions are to blame

South Korea has expanded the list of goods prohibited for supply to Russia

The manufacturer of domestic premium Aurus cars uses imported spare parts that come from South Korea. This is according to the Western press. According to journalists, the company in Yelabuga (Republic of Tatarstan) may have problems with the production of cars due to South Korean sanctions. Recently, the government of the Republic of Korea compiled a new list of goods prohibited for supply to Russia. It included 1402 items. Among them are items necessary for the production of premium cars.

It is alleged that Kyungki Industrial Co became the supplier of spare parts for the cars, which since February 2022 has sent parts and equipment worth $15.5 million to Russia. We are talking about controllers, sensors and body parts. At the same time, spare parts directly manufactured in South Korea, according to journalists, cost $5 million.

In total, according to Reuters, from 2018 to 2023, the necessary equipment for the production of Aurus cars and motorcycles worth $34 million was imported into Russia.
