Specialists from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) have begun creating Russia's first neuristor (artificial neuron) for a neuromorphic computer (which works on the principle of the human brain), the university's press service reported.
Scientists have already learned how to create memristors — artificial synapses that provide communication between neuristors (neurons) for the operation of a neuromorphic computer.
If they are connected in the same way as it works in the human brain, then the newest and most advanced algorithms will be executed more efficiently and quickly "in hardware."
Despite the development of neural network technologies, they are calculated on computers with high computing power. This does not allow the use of new technologies in compact autonomous devices.
As soon as scientists can create a neuromorphic computer, it will be integrated into UAVs and robots, MIPT summarized.
