The Kazan Aviation Plant named after Gorbunov (KAZ) is not coping with the monthly work quotas for the production program of Tu-214 passenger aircraft. In April 2024, it only managed approximately 40%. This is reported by the business electronic newspaper «BUSINESS Online», referring to a copy of the corporate publication «Forward! Newspaper of Aircraft Builders» dated May 28 of this year, which was at the disposal of its editorial office.
This result was achieved due to «the lack of necessary equipment and an acute shortage of personnel», the shortage of which is 91 people. The deadlines for the transfer of a number of products to the customer are «shifting to the right.»
It is noted that in a note entitled «We see our problems, we talk about them, we work on them,» it is said that the managing director of JSC «Tupolev» Konstantin Timofeev explains the reason for the situation.
Now the result is not very satisfactory. The reasons are clear: the irregularity of procurement, delaying technical re-equipment, the almost complete absence of inter-industry cooperation — we do everything ourselves. There are not enough machines or people.
Earlier, it became known about Aeroflot's plans to abandon leasing dozens of domestic SJ-100 and Tu-214 aircraft in the coming years. There is a significant probability that all 339 aircraft that the carrier planned to receive in Russia by 2030 will be from Irkutsk — and this is the MS-21. The first MS-21s will be ready at the end of 2025.
