At the same time, the decision to stay was dictated not only by the desire to preserve profits. According to the FT, the Russian authorities put forward unfavorable conditions for foreign companies to leave the country.

According to the publication, more than 2,100 international companies remained in the Russian Federation. At the same time, about 1,600 companies left the Russian Federation or reduced business activity.
Russia introduced the so-called "exit tax." The size of the "voluntary" contribution of foreign business is about 15% of the sale value of Russian assets.
