The creators of the domestic operating system "Aurora" have started working on a browser for mobile devices based on the Chromium code, which is used in most similar products. This was reported by Kommersant.
The documentation for the fifth version of "Aurora" mentions an experimental browser based on Chromium. In addition, Open Mobile Platform, owned by Rostelecom, has posted a job opening for a browser developer for "Aurora" on the hh.ru job search portal.
Currently, the system uses Firefox, which is less effective at running web applications. The cost of creating a new browser is estimated at approximately 15-20 million rubles.
The development of most web applications for Russian programs is impossible on the basis of the Firefox browser. They are simply not adapted to this format
According to Altukhov, the cost of creating a browser based on Chromium will take up to six months with the participation of a team of 10-20 people.
