Kamikaze Duck with Turbojet Engine: "NPO Mashinostroyeniya" Patents New Airplane-Type UAV

The device with an innovative aerodynamic design was developed in the Moscow region

The military-industrial corporation "NPO Mashinostroyeniya" from the Moscow region has received a patent for an unmanned aerial vehicle with an innovative aerodynamic design. This kamikaze drone has improved flight characteristics, at least according to the patent documents.

The device belongs to the class of airplane-type unmanned aerial vehicles. Its aerodynamic configuration is based on the "duck" balancing scheme. The purpose of this technical solution is to increase the flight capabilities of the drone compared to its counterparts.

The main features of the project include a central cargo compartment in the fuselage, a specially designed wing, a front empennage with swept consoles, and a tail vertical empennage with trapezoidal keels.

The integrated layout helps to increase the maximum aerodynamic quality and lift coefficient, and the complex wing shape improves characteristics at high angles of attack and reduces wave drag.

The technical device is equipped with a turbojet engine with an air intake under the fuselage. This resembles the design of cruise and anti-ship missiles, also developed by "NPO Mashinostroyeniya".

UAVs of this type should provide high maneuverability and low radar visibility. This will allow them to operate successfully in the face of air defense and interceptor fighters.

The purpose of creating such drones is to provide the functionality of attack, bomber and fighter aircraft at a lower cost of production and operation compared to manned aircraft.
