Right Under Japan's Nose: Minesweepers "Anatoly Shlemov" and "Petr Ilyichev" Destroyed Sea Mines off the Coast of Kamchatka

The ships were built at the USC shipyard in St. Petersburg

The crews of the minesweepers "Anatoly Shlemov", "Petr Ilyichev", "Yakov Balyaev", built according to the design of the USC Design Bureau "Almaz" at the "Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant", took part in exercises in Avacha Bay off the coast of Kamchatka.

The ships found and destroyed sea bottom mines using contact and non-contact trawls. The USC press service clarified that one of the minesweepers used an unmanned boat with a sonar system to search for the conditional enemy's mines.

The naval minesweepers escorted a detachment of warships of the Pacific Fleet behind the trawls through an area with a conditional mine threat.

About mine defense ships (PMO):

PMO ships are a new generation of mine-sweeping forces of the Russian Navy. They have high maneuverability and protection. The hull of the minesweepers is made of solid fiberglass, which reduces their magnetic field.

The Pacific Fleet base is located in Kamchatka, protecting the eastern borders of Russia. The closest neighbor of our country in this region is Japan.

Earlier www1.ru wrote that Japan, the United States and South Korea are trying to increase their influence in the Pacific region.
