The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) has announced the launch of a program to create new antibiotics. This was announced by Academician Gennady Krasnikov, speaking at the Federation Council.
The speaker also emphasized the problem of increasing resistance of bacterial diseases to modern antimicrobial drugs.
This issue is of paramount importance, considering that today everyone uses antibiotics both in the food we eat and in hospitals. Indeed, in the near future, we will face the fact that there will be no antibiotics to protect us. The solution is to create a separate program, which we are working on today, and we are formulating our proposals so that there is a separate state program for creating new antibiotics to solve this problem.
Earlier it was reported that Russian scientists created an antibiotic that kills mycobacteria inside macrophages.
