Belarusian company BelAZ has introduced two new mining dump trucks created in the paradigm of environmental care. The 120-ton BelAZ-7513E truck runs on electricity, and the BelAZ-7513R, which carries a record 130 tons of cargo, needs to be refueled with natural gas.
The electric novelty is equipped with 26 lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of more than 1500 kW. The mining dump truck is equipped with an energy recovery system, the supply of which is replenished when braking on descents.
The natural gas-powered BelAZ-7513R received an engine with a capacity of 1623 horsepower and a hydropneumatic suspension. The dump truck is equipped with two tanks of 1400 liters each.
The truck developers emphasize that the new products are more profitable compared to diesel counterparts. Thus, a gas engine requires less maintenance, and natural gas is cheaper than diesel fuel. It is more profitable to charge an electric dump truck than to use a hybrid version of a diesel-electric truck.
It is worth noting that the Belarusian manufacturer plans to create an environmentally friendly 100-ton dump truck by 2030. Heavy equipment will be fueled by hydrogen and use an electric drive.
Earlier, www1.ru wrote that BelAZ showed a 220-ton dump truck with a Russian diesel engine. A batch of 20 machines will be used in Siberia at the Kuzbassrazrezugol enterprise.
