The Russian holding company "High-Precision Systems", which is part of Rostec, has released an unusual piece of military equipment. The Russian military has recently added a two-section tracked amphibious armored personnel carrier snow and swamp-going vehicle to its inventory.
This piece of equipment was discussed on the "Military Acceptance" program on the Zvezda TV channel.
The two-section armored DT-BTR with mine protection is assembled at the Rubtsovsk Engineering Plant. This floating BTR snow and swamp-going vehicle consists of two sections, each of which has its own vehicle control point and a set of video cameras. The first section accommodates three people, and the second can accommodate up to nine soldiers.
Added: According to the designers, the DT-BTR has performance characteristics similar to a tank.
Modern requirements lead to the fact that we must provide protection almost at the level of a tank.
The DT-BTR weighs 25 tons and can tow up to 7 tons of cargo on a trailer. It is powered by a 500 hp engine.
The vehicle develops a speed of up to 60 km/h on land, can jump over ditches of 2.7 meters and overcome walls at least a meter high, covering ascents of 35 degrees. The DT-BTR moves slower on water: at a speed of only up to 6 km/h.
It is known that the DT-BTR is equipped with a BM-30-D "Spitsa" remotely controlled combat module from the Central Research Institute "Burevestnik" on the front section. It has the appearance of a turret weighing more than a ton, which is installed on the roof of the carrier. To search for targets, the module has an optoelectronic station with a day and thermal imaging channel and a laser rangefinder.
The "Spitsa" attacks targets at a distance of up to two kilometers with a 30-mm 2A42 automatic cannon with a ammunition load of 300 rounds. The cannon is paired with a PKTM machine gun with an ammunition load of at least 1000 rounds. The kit may also include a 30-mm AG-30 automatic grenade launcher and smoke grenade launchers.
The combat module will destroy enemy manpower at a distance of up to a kilometer. At a distance of up to two kilometers, it will clear unprotected and lightly armored vehicles.
