Instead of Cummins: Kompas-9 trucks will receive a new Russian turbodiesel

Cars with the new KamAZ-590 engine will go on sale at the end of June

Traks Vostok Rus has launched the production of medium-duty Kompas-9 trucks with the KamAZ-590 engine. The cars will go on sale at the end of June.

The working volume of the new engine is 3.76 liters, power is 143 horsepower, and torque is 500 Nm.

Presumably, the new domestic engine has become an import-substituted version of the American Cummins ISF 3.8 engine. The latter had a light weight with a power of 152 horsepower.

In addition to the new engine, the trucks will receive an improved air conditioning control unit, a media system with a screen, rear parking sensors and a rear view camera.

Kompas-9 is a series of Russian medium-duty low-frame trucks, produced since 2022 at the Kama Automobile Plant. The frame, axles and suspension were partially inherited from their predecessors KamAZ-4308 and KamAZ-5308, and the cab was borrowed from the Chinese JAC N series.

Recall that the international corporation Cummins left the Russian market in March 2022. It had thousands of customers in the Russian Federation.
