Pneumatic gun will help simulate traumatic brain injuries

Scientists at Belgorod State University, using funds received from a grant under the FNTP program for the development of genetic technologies, have acquired a pneumatic installation for studying the consequences of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.

According to Professor Mikhail Korokin, the Research Institute is studying neurotrauma and the possibilities of its pharmacological correction.

The complexity of studying neurodegenerative processes

Currently, researchers are working with rodents with progressive Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. They are trying to track how the disease develops and what methods are effective for treating it.

However, the results of research in the field of neurodegenerative processes, obtained after experiments with animals, are difficult to interpret for humans. They believe that the use of a pneumatic gun will significantly increase the accuracy of these experiments, as it simulates traumatic brain injuries with specified parameters.

Scientists hope that this equipment will help them find a way to stop the development of pathological brain processes.
