A fire broke out at the Novocherkassk SDPP (part of PJSC "OGK-2"). Two power units were taken out of operation, said Vasily Golubev, Governor of the Rostov Region.
According to him, the fire occurred on the night of March 25 at a transformer substation. SDPP employees extinguished the fire. However, the 330 kV Tikoretskaya and Rostov high-voltage lines were automatically disconnected.

He clarified that subscribers are now receiving electricity.
The construction of the main building of the Novocherkassk SDPP began in 1961. The first power unit was put into operation in 1965. There are now 9 power units at the station.
The last, ninth power unit was put into operation in 2016. It is the only power unit in the country of Russian production, where circulating fluidized bed technologies are used. The SDPP operates on coal waste - anthracite culm, its electrical capacity is 2258 MW.
Earlier in the Czech Republic, due to a breakdown, the first power unit of the Temelin nuclear power plant, which was built by Russian specialists, was shut down. The problem is related to the technical water supply system that cools the reactor.
