American corporations Google and Apple may disable their devices, including smartphones, in Russia. In this case, the gadgets will turn into "bricks," said Roskachestvo expert Sergei Kuzmenko.
According to him, blocking is technically possible. At the same time, Kuzmenko doubted that Western IT giants would dare to take such a step. This would mean a blow to reputation and multi-million dollar lawsuits from users.
The expert emphasized that the license agreement does not specify the conditions for blocking the phone. In addition, foreigners often come to Russia who use iPhones. Separating their devices from those owned by Russians is very difficult. Therefore, disconnection seems unlikely, Kuzmenko concluded.
The latest smartphone model from Apple available in Russia is the iPhone 15. The price tag for it on marketplaces starts from 89 thousand rubles, and the average price — is about 100 thousand rubles. Since the start of sales, their cost continues to fall.
