The crew of the Volkhov diesel-electric submarine of the Pacific Fleet launched a Kalibr cruise missile from a submerged position. The shooting took place in the Sea of Japan, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
Before the launch, the Volkhov submarine secretly arrived in the area designated for the shooting.

Sixth torpedo tube — salvo! A salvo from the torpedo tube has been fired!
The Kalibr missile was fired towards a coastal target simulating a firing position of a mock enemy. It hit a target at the Syurkum tactical field in the Khabarovsk Territory. The firing range exceeded 1,000 km.
The area where the shooting took place was closed off by ships of the Pacific Fleet. It was also covered by aircraft and drones of naval aviation.
About the Volkhov submarine
The Volkhov submarine is the eighth in the 636.3 Varshavyanka project. It is part of the Primorsky Flotilla of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy. It was launched in 2019. The submarine's crew is 52 people.
