Destroys bunkers, bridges, shelters - what is known about the Russian FAB-3000 aerial bomb

Russia has been mass-producing these three-ton bombs since February

Since last year, Russian defense industry enterprises in the Nizhny Novgorod region have increased the production of modern artillery and aviation weapons by five times.

This became known following a visit by the Minister of Defense, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, to the region, where he inspected the production of aviation weapons, artillery and tank shells of various calibers.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, at one of the enterprises that produces high-explosive aerial bombs, the production of FAB-500 aerial bombs has been "increased many times." Also, the production of FAB-1500, which has high accuracy, has doubled there. And since February of this year, the company has organized "mass production" of FAB-3000.

What is known about the characteristics of FAB-3000

The FAB-3000 high-explosive aerial bomb was developed and produced back in the days of the USSR. It carries three tons of explosives.

The bomb is designed to destroy various types of structures, shelters and fortified industrial facilities. In particular, these can be factories, dugouts, railway and road bridges, bunkers, and fortified underground passages.

The FAB-3000 flight is adjustable, planned, and such bombs can fly for tens of kilometers. At the same time, the enemy's air defense cannot shoot them down.

But, despite the already existing combat capability, when the FAB-3000 is re-released, it will obviously receive additions. As Russian military expert Alexei Leonkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti, most likely, the aerial bombs will have a universal planning and correction module.

It is also possible to expect the production in Russia of FAB-3000 with ballistic discharge computers. Then, according to Leonkov, they will turn into a "high-precision ammunition that will be accurately placed in the target with minimal circular probable deviation."
