Servicemen of the coastal missile unit of the Baltic Naval Base conducted planned tactical exercises, during which they practiced eliminating a mock enemy in the Baltic Sea. Imitation ships of various kinds were destroyed by Bastion complexes.
They launched Onyx supersonic universal anti-ship missiles at mock targets in the Baltic Sea, simulating a group of enemy ships.
In accordance with the instructions received, after performing electronic missile launches at a detachment of mock enemy ships, the missilemen covertly changed their firing position. During the missile launches, the missilemen also carried out a number of measures to disguise and counter-sabotage the places of combat duty. The exercise involved about 50 military personnel and up to 10 pieces of equipment.
The Bastions are constantly on combat duty to protect and defend the coast of the region and the exclusive economic zone of Russia in the Kaliningrad direction.
They have repeatedly proven themselves as optimal defenders of the coast and operate on the balance of all Russian fleets.

The Bastion anti-ship missile system is a development of the Military-Industrial Corporation "NPO Mashinostroyenia" in two versions — the mobile Bastion-P and the stationary Bastion-S.
The complex is designed to protect a sea coast with a length of over 600 kilometers. It strikes surface ships of various classes and types operating as part of amphibious formations, convoys, shipborne and aircraft carrier strike groups, as well as single ships and ground radio-contrast targets in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures.
It takes about five minutes for the Bastion to deploy. The main tool for hitting targets of the Bastion is the launcher of a mobile complex on the MZKT-7930 chassis, which has two Onyx missiles with a warhead weighing 300 kilograms. They cover a distance of up to 300 kilometers and develop a speed of 680-750 meters per second.
Their modernized version, Onyx-M, is capable of hitting enemy sea and ground targets at a distance of up to 800 kilometers. Such modernized missiles are prepared for launch in no more than two minutes.
At the beginning of January this year, in an interview with RIA Novosti, Alexander Leonov, General Director — General Designer of NPO Mashinostroyenia, announced the strengthening of the flight characteristics of Onyx. He said that the "development prospects" of the missile include "a significant increase in range", but did not specify how much longer it could become.
