Российский производитель телевизоров Hyundai, BBK, Toshiba запустит завод в Ленобласти

Production will be moved from the Kaliningrad Region due to logistical difficulties

The TV manufacturer "Telebalt", which until 2022 produced equipment including Hyundai, BBK, and Toshiba, plans to open a plant in the Leningrad Region this year, according to sources in the household appliance market. The company confirmed that production at its plant in the Kaliningrad Region is currently suspended.

The Kaliningrad Region was attractive for the location of production lines due to tax incentives and convenient logistics. However, against the backdrop of the closure of the land border and airspace for the supply of products, only the sea route remained. Transportation by sea turned out to be significantly more expensive than other types of transportation.

The region also houses TV manufacturers STI Group, Polar, and "Assembleon". It is not yet known whether they plan to move their facilities elsewhere.

The government of the Leningrad Region has not received requests from "Telebalt" to locate production. The authorities emphasized that they are doing everything to attract new investors.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation noted that the Kaliningrad Region, despite the difficulties, is increasing its production potential. In the fourth quarter of 2023, the volume of manufacturing industries increased by 10% compared to the third quarter of the same year.
