Russia has developed new inspection and examination complexes capable of "seeing" through things. They help inspect trucks and cars, buses, railway cars, and sea containers and find "contraband" of almost any size.
The equipment recognizes objects by the composition of the substance and can detect and identify drugs, explosives, ammunition, and other prohibited goods.
Mobile and stationary inspection complexes allow scanning up to 25 cars per hour, portal systems - up to 120 cars. Stationary railway complexes are able to automatically "see" undeclared cargo in wagons or containers moving at speeds up to 70 km/h.
The development of the companies "Toriy" and "Scantronic Systems", "subsidiaries" of "Rostec", has already been tested and will soon be delivered to the relevant Russian departments. The first batch of more than twenty new IDCs will cost 5.5 billion rubles.
Earlier it became known that stationary ground checkpoints in Russia are being modernized. New portal IDCs are being installed on them, where the car together with the driver undergoes 100% scanning with a harmless dose of X-rays. Contact with customs officers is minimal for those passing through the checkpoint, and the throughput of the points increases from 5 to 10 times.
By the end of 2027, the Ministry of Transport of Russia will supply such IDCs to twenty-one checkpoints across the country.
