Ural "Ghoul" with Thermal Imagers Reached Russian Soldiers

Developers plan to add machine vision to these FPV drones

A batch of "Ghoul" FPV drones, developed in the Sverdlovsk region, has arrived in the Russian troops. The copter-type kamikaze drone was created in the spring of 2023, partially using 3D printers.

The manufacturer does not disclose all the characteristics, but it is known that the range of the drone is 6–12 kilometers, and the speed is 180 kilometers per hour. "Ghoul" can carry charges for the RPG-7 grenade launcher, RKG-3M hand-held anti-tank grenades, and homemade high-explosive fragmentation charges.

As a representative of the manufacturer told IA "TASS", the drones were being finalized, and "Ghouls" with thermal imagers were sent to the Russian military in a new batch. Another update is also planned for them - improving the fast frequency switching, which allows bypassing the dome protection of electronic warfare, is considered a "priority task". In the future, the drone will have machine vision - so it can aim at the target and fly to it on its own.

Also, earlier the manufacturer of "Ghouls" announced plans to switch to domestic parts and complete import substitution for these drones, including Chinese-made video transmitters.
