Ready to launch - Rocket for Meteor-M No. 2-4 satellite assembled at Vostochny

Hydrometeorological satellite is scheduled to launch on February 29

Roscosmos has shown the installation of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket at the Vostochny launch complex for the launch of the Meteor-M No. 2-4 hydrometeorological satellite.

The mobile unit of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket with the Meteor-M No. 2-4 satellite was taken to the launch site early in the morning. Specialists spent several weeks on preparation for the launch.

Meteor-M No. 2-4 is a multifunctional satellite. Among its responsibilities:

  • hydrometeorological support, climate and environmental monitoring;
  • studying the Earth's natural resources;
  • monitoring the helio-geophysical environment in near-Earth space;
  • receiving information from automatic data collection measuring platforms and retransmitting signals from emergency radio buoys of the COSPAS-SARSAT international satellite search and rescue system.

After the delivery and installation of the carrier at the launch site, Roscosmos specialists continue to prepare it for launch.

The launch is scheduled for February 29 at 08:43:26 Moscow time.
