Russian scientists will be able to restore the human spinal cord after injury

NUST MISIS has developed a neuroimplant that stimulates the growth of nerve tissue

A group of researchers at NUST MISIS has developed a neuroimplant for the human spinal cord. The device, which is implanted at the site of injury, can stimulate the growth of nerve tissue.

The scientists explained that paralysis occurs due to the cessation of nerve signal transmission. If nerve tissue is restored, the patient may regain motor functions.

According to her, the researchers created a directed nanostructure to which cells attach, forming new pathways. Zelenova emphasized that there is currently no therapy for damaged spinal cord. However, their nanostructures have a great future.

The development has already proven its effectiveness on cell cultures. Animal trials have now begun.

Regenerative technologies in medicine were presented at the Forum of Future Technologies, which was held in Moscow. The stands featured bionic prostheses, a robotic ultrasound system, quantum glasses with in vitro diagnostics and other industry innovations.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin stated the importance of AI technologies, genetics and genomics, and neurotechnology for modern medicine. He emphasized that Russia is ready to cooperate with other countries in advanced medical fields.
