The Su-75 Checkmate light tactical aircraft (Sukhoi Design Bureau) may become a platform for the development of a new aircraft. Arab countries are interested in partnering with Russian engineers, according to Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport, at the World Defense Show 2024 defense exhibition in Saudi Arabia.
He recalled that the fifth-generation aircraft was first presented to the general public at the Dubai Airshow in 2021.
Its open architecture is relevant for building projects for the joint development of advanced aviation complexes in the Middle East region
Airplanes for solving various tasks can be created on the Su-75 Checkmate platform. The concept also includes the development of an unmanned aerial vehicle.
Mikheev emphasized that the Checkmate design already includes the possibility of creating complexes on its basis with adaptation to solve various tasks. Among other things, the Su-75 concept envisages creating an unmanned aircraft on its base.
UAC presented an updated model of the Su-75 Checkmate at the World Defense Show 2024 stand. Visitors noted that the engineers changed the air intake located under the fuselage. Prior to this, the air intake was divided into two channels and protruded forward. Now the bottom of the air intake has been made straight, and the air channel goes without a partition.
In addition, experts changed the configuration of the tail booms and the wing of the aircraft, increasing the area of the flaperons (the surface of the aircraft wing, which performs the functions of an aileron and flap - note from the editors of www1.ru).
Earlier it became known that Nigeria is interested in purchasing the Su-75 Checkmate.
