The High-Precision Systems holding company of Rostec announced the modernization of the new MC-572 Astarta sniper rifle, developed by the Tula Central Design and Research Bureau of Sporting and Hunting Weapons.
Currently, the weapon is undergoing new tests, its operability is being checked in various operating conditions - according to the manufacturers, the rifle has undergone ergonomic improvements. In the near future, military operation of Astarta is also planned.
MC-572 is a large-caliber self-loading sniper rifle of 12.7x108mm caliber. It can hit both armored vehicles and manpower of a potential enemy in shelters. Self-loading helps high accuracy of shots: during tests, a group of five shots from 100 m showed a dispersion of only 1.5 cm.
In comparison with the popular American counterpart - the Barrett self-loading large-caliber sniper rifle - it is several times more accurate. The Barrett's dispersion was 6 cm.
