A traffic light signal repeater has been developed in Russia - it will help in fog, rain, snow and blizzard

The first repeater modules will be tested on the streets of Yekaterinburg

A subsidiary of Rostec, the Schwabe holding, has developed a traffic light signal repeater. The module is attached to traffic light posts and supports and synchronously repeats the main color signal, which can be difficult for drivers to see due to precipitation or fog.

Road safety will be easier to ensure - if the traffic light is not seen, then the signal repeater will definitely be noticed. In addition, the repeater is not subject to false triggering: when two signals are on at the same time on a traffic light, or one is not on at all, it will work correctly

The module manufactured by the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant named after E. S. Yalamov (UOMZ) is similar to the traffic light itself. It consists of a moisture- and dust-proof profile with LEDs and a power supply unit. The module is universal and easily connects to a road controller - even to the ITS smart system, which is used in Moscow and some other parts of Russia.

The device's characteristics will make road traffic safer - the traffic light signal repeater can be installed in almost any region of the country. It is ready for operating conditions at temperatures from -40°C to +60°C.

In the near future, the module will be tested on the roads of Yekaterinburg. Pilot operation is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
