It is equipped with new hypersonic missile weapons

The new Admiral Golovko frigate has arrived at the Northern Fleet. The ceremony of raising the St. Andrew's flag for it and its acceptance into the Navy took place on December 25, 2023 in St. Petersburg under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, President Vladimir Putin.

Frigate "Admiral Golovko"  in the Baltic Sea

The replenishment personally at the pier at the main base of the Northern Fleet in the city of Severomorsk was met by the commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Alexander Moiseev.

He noted that the Admiral Golovko, like all frigates of Project 22350, was created using the most advanced technologies and is equipped with high-precision missile weapons, including new hypersonic missile weapons, which raises the combat capabilities of our surface forces to a fundamentally new level.

The frigate confirmed all the characteristics indicated by Moiseev during state tests in the Baltic, Barents and White Seas. In addition, the Admiral Golovko successfully completed the tasks of the inter-fleet transition along the route from St. Petersburg to Severomorsk.

The frigate Admiral Golovko was designed by the Northern Design Bureau and built at the Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg.

It is included in Project 22350. Ships of this project have a displacement of about 5 thousand tons with a length of 135 meters and a width of 16 meters and are designed for operations in the far sea and ocean zones. These are universal frigates designed for any combat mission: from landing troops to repelling attacks by aircraft and submarines and opening fire on enemy ground targets.

Three frigates have been built in Russia under Project 22350. Both the lead Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov, and the first serial Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov, and now the Admiral Golovko are serving as part of the missile ship formation of the Northern Fleet. They have installations for 16 missiles on board, and it is known that after the third frigate, the number of missiles in the installations will increase to 24 on subsequent ships of the project. Then the frigates of the project will become practically the most combat-ready in the world. Different types of missiles can be launched from frigates: Kalibrs, Onyxes, Otvets, and even the latest hypersonic Zircon missiles.

The Admiral Golovko differs from its counterparts in the project in that it was the first to receive a power plant of completely domestic production.
