A major Russian dealer company, Avtodom, intends to assemble 30,000 cars in 2024 at the former Mercedes plant in the Moscow region, according to its head, Andrey Olkhovsky.
The production site in Esipovo became the property of Avtodom after the car dealer purchased Mercedes' Russian business. Olkhovsky did not specify which cars would be produced here. However, the plant plans to produce premium vehicles, he noted.
In the first year, the company's employees will perform large-unit assembly. If the quality of the cars meets expectations, the plant will switch to small-unit assembly mode, Olkhovsky summarized.
It was previously reported that test assembly of cars had begun at the former Mercedes plant.
