Российские ученые вместе с Huawei создали прототип новых вычислительных спецпроцессоров

The development of innovative technology of homomorphic computing for processors belongs to Russians

Russian scientists from Penza State University, together with representatives of the Chinese IT giant Huawei, have developed prototypes of innovative computing special processors on a chip. The prototypes are based on the innovative technology of homomorphic computing, which was developed by Russian specialists.

At the same time, data protection against external unauthorized influences is guaranteed - in particular, in the form of data correction and computing processes

It is noted that the technology will speed up calculations on a conventional universal computer processor by 2–5 times. It is applicable for use on serial computing reprogrammable microcircuits and can be used in Russian industry: from smartphones and smart watches to household appliances, laptops and other equipment.

Scientists use homomorphic encryption - a method in which data is in encrypted form, but certain mathematical operations can be performed on it and a result can be obtained without gaining access to decrypting this data.

PSU is not the only university that is working in Russia on homomorphic encryption technology and quantum communications. In particular, the Institute for System Programming named after V.P. Ivannikov of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the V.A. Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences are working in this direction.

The first results are already available - they are gradually being integrated into the Russian cloud platform for organizing resource-intensive computing and data storage for scientific, educational and commercial purposes Asperitas. The customer of the project "Research and creation of advanced methods for protecting information, preserving confidentiality and preventing data leakage during their processing in distributed environments" was the Ministry of Education and Science.
