Russia to conduct 7 launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles in 2024

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced missile launches

The Russian Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) will conduct 7 launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles in 2024. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Launch of a ballistic missile

The department stated that over the past 5 years, the RVSN, as part of testing missile systems and training the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, conducted more than 20 launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles (range of at least 5500 km). At the same time, the press service of the Ministry of Defense did not specify which missiles were being launched.

Intercontinental missiles belong to the ground-to-ground class, they are usually equipped with nuclear warheads and are designed to inflict strategic damage on the enemy. The world's first missile capable of flying across a continent was the R-7, developed in the USSR (1957).

Russia is armed with Sarmat, Burevestnik, and Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles. The leadership of the Strategic Missile Forces believes that only such missiles are a deterrent force.
