Russian Ministry of Defense Announces Modernization of Long-Range Aviation

The Russian Ministry of Defense plans to modernize the fleet of the Russian Aerospace Forces Long-Range Aviation in 2024. This was announced by the Commander of Long-Range Aviation, Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash.

These will be completely new aircraft, based on new principles, with new aerodynamic and combat qualities.

The commander recalled that in 2023, long-range aviation participated twice in joint exercises with the Chinese Air Force. In total, there have been 7 such maneuvers since 2019.

Currently, the Russian Aerospace Forces Long-Range Aviation is armed with Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bomber-missile carriers, Tu-22M3 long-range supersonic bombers, Tu-22MR long-range reconnaissance aircraft, and Il-78 tankers.

It was previously reported that the Su-57 fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces will receive new engines.
