Hydrogen Peroxide Rocket Engine Developed in Russia

It is planned to equip the return vehicles of new generation manned spacecraft with it

Roscosmos announced a new fuel for rocket engines - 85% hydrogen peroxide is being considered as a promising fuel for these purposes. It will require a special engine, which will be installed on the return vehicle of a new generation manned spacecraft.

And Russia already has such an engine. It took almost three years to develop and produce the first prototypes

Design tests were carried out in May. The novelty from RSC Energia is already being tested at the Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering of Roscosmos, where an electro-hydraulic valve for this engine was developed.

Refinement tests of the object are being carried out. In the near future, engines will be tested on a number of models at the NIIMash base - in particular, on a fire model of the descent executive system.
