Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced at a government meeting that the Industrial Development Fund (IDF) will receive approximately 39 billion rubles as part of additional support for the Russian automotive industry. The majority of the funds will be directed towards research and development work by key Russian automotive concerns.
The cabinet believes that this decision, in the face of sanctions pressure from the West, will help develop missing competencies and guarantee the stable production of automobiles.
It is important that Russian cars meet modern technical requirements and are not inferior to foreign brands in terms of reliability.
The Prime Minister also stated that by the end of the current year, it is necessary to attract about 2 trillion rubles to projects for the production of priority transport products. In particular, the funds will go towards updating public transport in Russian regions. The authorities will purchase:
- Buses
- Electric buses
- Trams
- Trolleybuses
In early December, Mishustin announced the allocation of 15 billion rubles to the IDF. The funds were planned for the localization of components for automobiles.
