Long-Range Bi-Caliber "Hurricane" of Fire: Russian Military Receives Upgraded MLRS

NPO "Splav" Begins Deliveries of "Uragan-1M" MLRS to the Russian Armed Forces

The Tula-based scientific and production association "Splav" has begun supplying the Russian military with the new long-range multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) "Uragan-1M". The modernized complex has a number of significant advantages compared to its counterparts.

One of them is the bi-caliber nature of the system. "Uragan-1M" can fire 220 mm and 300 mm caliber rockets. It is specified that the 2 transport and launch containers operate independently of each other, and the entire package is replaced during reloading.

In addition, targeting and fire control occur automatically. Thanks to modern electronics, "Uragan-1M" operates as part of reconnaissance and fire circuits, receiving data from drones in real time.

Guided missiles 9M544, which have self-targeting elements "Motiv-3M", are suitable for countering the American-made HIMARS MLRS. Their development was completed in 2004. The missiles are designed to destroy tanks and groups of armored military equipment.

Earlier, Rostec announced the development of MLRS based on the legendary "Smerch". It is noted that the new robotic systems will significantly strengthen the Russian Armed Forces.
