Mobile systems of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces intend to equip hypersonic maneuvering warheads.
As Colonel General Sergei Karakaev, commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, stated in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda publication, such strike assets are best at overcoming various air defense systems and can be considered "breakthrough".
One such model has been created and adopted into service in the Yasny missile formation. Currently, work continues on its improvement, which in the future will allow the use of these strike assets, including in mobile-based systems.
Based on the interview, it concerns hypersonic warheads with maneuvering capabilities, which are only available in the newest silo-based Avangard system.
The Avangard's intercontinental ballistic missiles can fly in the dense layers of the atmosphere, reach speeds of 32,100 km/h and are invulnerable to global air defense forces. In the West, they are called a "chilling threat."
Karakaev mentioned that the Avangard underwent experimental development in the eastern Orenburg region on the territory of the Yasny formation. Later, it was there that it first went on combat duty in Russia.
