The newest small missile ship (MRK) "Burya" (project 22800 "Karakurt"), which is a carrier of "Kalibr" cruise missiles, carried out missile firing in the Baltic Sea. The maneuvers were carried out as part of state tests, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
The ship's crew hit aerial targets from the "Pantsir-M" anti-aircraft missile and gun system (ZRPK). The tests took place at the naval training grounds of the Baltic Fleet in the Kaliningrad region.
MRK "Burya", designed at the Central Design Bureau "Almaz" and built by specialists of JSC "Leningrad Shipyard "Pella", was launched in 2018. The ship is the second built at the "Pella" plant. After the completion of the tests, it will join the Baltic Fleet.
Ships of the "Karakurt" project are equipped with "Kalibr" and "Onyx" missiles. The military sailors also have an AK-176MA artillery gun at their disposal. The ship's air defense system is enhanced with the help of the "Igla" MANPADS and the "Pantsir-M" SAM.
Earlier, the carrier of "Kalibr" missiles, the submarine "Mozhaisk", was transferred to the Russian Navy. It will join the Pacific Fleet.
