Ikon Tyres has launched mass production of summer tires at the former plant of the Finnish concern Nokian Tyres in the Leningrad Region.
As specified in the company's press service, now all tires - summer and winter - are produced under the Ikon Tyres brand. Summer tires will be available in retail stores in the spring of 2024. Car owners will have access to premium Ikon Autograph and Ikon Nordman - mid-price segment tires.
Nokian Tyres sold its Russian assets in March 2023. The equipment and all automated systems were preserved at the plant in Vsevolozhsk. The Ikon Tyres plant operates around the clock, producing tires for the Russian, Kazakh and Belarusian markets. It is noted that due to sanctions, the export of tires to EU countries is temporarily limited.
Earlier it was reported that almost 30 thousand tires were produced in Russia in nine months of 2023. Experts note that after the introduction of sanctions and the departure of large companies, the market is gradually recovering.
