Boards are available, but no chips. Russian "Neks-T" launches motherboard production

Nearly 30,000 motherboards per year will be produced at Neks-T's facilities in Moscow

A resident of the "Technopolis Moscow" special economic zone (SEZ), Neks-T, has launched the production of motherboards with support for domestic processors in Zelenograd. In 2024, the company intends to produce about 30,000 boards at its production facilities in Pechatniki.

According to the head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, Vladislav Ovchinsky, Neks-T engineers developed a universal board in just 18 months. It can be used in displays, touch panels, all-in-one computers, and televisions.

A government representative emphasized that the "motherboards" were designed for Elvis and Baikal processors of Russian production.

Neks-T produces more than 45 different types of devices per month, with a volume of up to four thousand units.

Neks-T management announced high demand for motherboards. The company has received pre-orders for 20,000 devices, and several other large contracts under discussion provide for the production of up to 50,000 boards per year.

Electronics market experts have repeatedly pointed out the shortage of processors. Russia does not have equipment that could produce chips using 4-6 nm technology, which corresponds to the current development of microelectronics.

Foreign companies that accepted orders for the production of chips for Russia refused to cooperate due to sanctions. In addition, due to problems with components, companies participating in public procurement often pass off devices with foreign parts as a completely domestic development.

It was previously reported that the Laser and Equipment Group released the first machines for high-precision ultraviolet laser processing. It is planned to produce about 50 such machines per year.
