Today, at the "Sevmash" plant in Severodvinsk, a solemn ceremony was held to raise naval flags on two nuclear-powered missile cruisers - "Emperor Alexander III" and "Krasnoyarsk". This significant event, attended by the head of state Vladimir Putin, was timed to coincide with St. Andrew's Day and marked the beginning of the submarines' service in the Russian Navy.
The cruiser "Emperor Alexander III" became the third in the series of ships of the "Borei-A" project. Possessing advanced weapons and technologies, this nuclear-powered missile cruiser represents the fourth generation of nuclear vessels. Its armament includes modern missile and torpedo systems, as well as advanced navigation and radio-technical complexes.
"Krasnoyarsk", the second in the series of multi-purpose nuclear submarines of the "Yasen-M" project, also belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear vessels. The cruiser is equipped with advanced electronic warfare systems, and its equipment and materials have been modernized.
In his speech at the ceremony, Vladimir Putin emphasized that the strengthening of the Russian Navy is taking place through equipping it with advanced technology and increasing serial production. The "Emperor Alexander III" and "Krasnoyarsk" submarines will become reliable guardians of Russia's security, performing strategic tasks.
The nuclear cruiser "Emperor Alexander III" of the "Borei-A" project, like its "colleagues" - the nuclear ships "Yuri Dolgoruky", "Alexander Nevsky", "Vladimir Monomakh", "Knyaz Vladimir", "Knyaz Oleg" and "Generalissimus Suvorov" is armed with intercontinental ballistic missiles "Bulava". Earlier this month, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed the launch of "Bulava" from the submarine "Emperor Alexander III".
Multi-purpose nuclear submarines of the "Yasen-M" class possess high-precision long-range missiles capable of hitting various types of targets.
Very soon, the "Emperor Alexander III" and "Krasnoyarsk" submarine missile carriers will begin to serve in the Pacific Fleet, protecting the Far Eastern borders of the Fatherland.
Putin also noted that in the coming years it is planned to launch three more strategic missile carriers of the "Borei-A" class and complete the construction of the nuclear cruiser "Arkhangelsk". The development and strengthening of the power of the Russian Navy will be continued within the framework of the state armament program.
President Vladimir Putin also visited the frigate "Admiral Kasatonov", where he inspected the ship's weapons systems and left an entry in the book of honored visitors.
