Sokol Engineers Hand Over Upgraded MiG-31 Fighters to Russian Ministry of Defense

UAC Reports that Sokol Plant Fulfilled Annual MiG-31 Upgrade Plan

The Sokol Aircraft Plant (part of UAC) has fulfilled its 2023 plan for the overhaul and modernization of Russian MiG-31 fighters under the state defense order, the UAC press service reported.

The aircraft plant handed over the aircraft to the Russian Ministry of Defense. According to UAC CEO Yuri Slyusar, the MiG-31 has high flight performance characteristics that allow the pilot to successfully perform tasks during combat operations. The modernization of the MiG-31 is aimed at further improving the fighter platform, he concluded.

Earlier, the American publication Military Watch Magazine reported that NATO is concerned about the presence of MiG-31s over the Barents Sea. It is noted that the American F-16s in service with Norway cannot compare in their characteristics with Russian fighters. Even the F-35s, which Norwegian pilots are to receive, are inferior to the MiG-31.
