Based on biometrics: Vnukovo and Koltsovo to introduce automated passport control

Passengers will be able to pass through automated passport control at Vnukovo in 2024

Automated passport control systems with passenger biometric data verification will appear at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport and Yekaterinburg's Koltsovo Airport in 2024, according to Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev.

According to him, the system is being implemented to reduce the time it takes for passengers to pass through passport control at international airports.

It allows scanning and verifying all passport data in a specialized booth without the participation of a border guard

The system is already in operation at Sheremetyevo. On average, it takes 30-45 seconds to verify biometrics and the document provided by the traveler.

According to the Border Service of the FSB of Russia, automatic verification of passengers' passports will appear in at least six Russian airports.

Earlier it was reported that 10 Russian airports introduced a domestic passenger registration system ARCute, developed by the holding company "Airports of Regions".
