Atom electric car to receive suspension and chassis parts manufactured by KamAZ

Suspension parts for Lada, Atom, and Moskvich to be produced at a plant in the Ulyanovsk region

Dimitrovgrad Automobile Aggregate Plant (DAAZ, part of the KamAZ structure) received a preferential loan of 3.3 billion rubles from the Industrial Development Fund (IDF) to establish the production of main suspension parts and assemblies, as well as chassis. The corresponding agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Russia forum at VDNKh.

The discussion concerns the production of subframes, as well as front and rear suspension arms. These components will be supplied to cars of AvtoVAZ, the Moskvich plant, and Atom electric vehicles. According to Yuri Gerasimov, Deputy Head of PJSC KamAZ for auto components, the IDF program will help DAAZ remain among the major Russian manufacturers of parts for automobiles.

The IDF noted that a total of about 70 billion rubles had been provided in the form of preferential loans for 80 automotive projects. In the Ulyanovsk region alone, considering the loan for DAAZ, 13 projects have been financed for a total amount of 15 billion rubles.

The creation of production facilities at the Dimitrovgrad plant requires 4.2 billion rubles (including 3.3 billion rubles in borrowed funds). 450 new employees will be hired to service them.

It was previously reported that Russians can pre-order Atom electric vehicles. Mass production of the cars will begin in 2025.
