State Duma proposes allowing private security companies to shoot down drones

The law is urged to be adopted "faster" to protect fuel and energy enterprises from sabotage

The State Duma is considering a bill that will allow fuel and energy enterprises to protect themselves from spies and saboteurs.

In the first half of 2023, about 45 acts of sabotage were organized against fuel and energy facilities in Russia

Private security guards of such enterprises are proposed to be given the right to shoot down all drones that are too close to the entrusted territory. The draft law with this idea was submitted to the State Duma in early November, and on the eve of the plenary session of the Federation Council, they called for speeding up its consideration and adoption.

I ask the Committee on Economic Policy and the Committee on Defense: please take care of it, let's adopt it faster! We must shoot them down, of course, we must ensure security.
Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko

Currently, employees can open direct fire or use anti-drone devices against any suspicious drones and robots:

  •  Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard;
  •  Ministry of Emergency Situations;
  • Main Directorate of Special Programs of the President;
  • FSB, FSIN, FSO, SVR;
  • State Courier Service;
  • departmental security.
