A new format of the Moscow Resident Card, a universal solution for receiving city services, is being tested in Moscow. Instead of a regular card, you can now order a chip sticker for your smartphone.
So far, the sticker is only being tested among different groups of Muscovites with different needs.
Using it is as easy as using a regular card. For example, to travel on transport, you need to attach the sticker to the validator, and to make an appointment with a doctor, attach it to the information kiosk in the clinic. Testing will last until the end of November. It involves, among others, disabled people of groups II and III, students and large families
If users like the new product and find it convenient, it will be developed further. The sticker is produced faster than the card, and in the future it will reduce the production time of the temporary unified social ticket. Currently, the card takes thirty days to produce.
In addition, this sticker allows you to change the preferential category without replacing the card with a new one.
What is a Moscow Resident Card and why is it needed?
The Moscow Resident Card is a personalized unified card for accessing the entire city infrastructure for a number of population categories. Currently, more than 5 million Muscovites have such a card, and more than 1 million cards were issued in 2023.
The card can be used by more than twenty preferential categories: from veterans to honorary donors and large families.
The card has a number of options: preferential or free travel, discounts in shops, cafes, entertainment, cultural or sports institutions.
The Moscow Resident Card allows you to make an appointment with a doctor through terminals in the clinic and borrow books from Moscow libraries, if you first link it to a single reader card.
