Employees of the South Ural State University (SUSU) have developed an Android application 'Digital Asceticism', which will help to get rid of gadget addiction. The application is available in the RuStore online store.
The developers offer users a 7-day course that develops critical thinking and also helps not to leave a digital trail. 'Digital Asceticism' teaches breathing techniques and encourages users to keep a diary of mindful smartphone and other smart device usage.
IT experts have positively evaluated the Russian application. However, clinical psychologist Dmitry Dolgitskiy does not agree with this assessment. He believes that 'Digital Asceticism' will not replace live communication for users, so there is no point in it.
In his opinion, digital addiction arises from boredom, lack of contact with the outside world. Healthy habits - sports, walking in the fresh air with a pet, meetings with friends, going to the cinema - will help get rid of it. Any activity that makes a person leave the house will serve digital detox.
