Checkmate to the Opponent: Russia Prepares to Produce Su-75 Checkmate Fighters

Rostec shared details about the new fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate fighter

Russian designers have completed the documentation necessary for the production of the first samples of the fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate light fighters (Checkmate - note from www1.ru editor), Rostec reported.

The aircraft was first presented to the public in 2021 at the Dubai Airshow. Foreign customers studied the aircraft and sent their proposals for its refinement. According to the state corporation, some technical solutions were adjusted based on these proposals, which affected the cost of the aircraft. This significantly increased the competitiveness of Checkmate.

The press service of Rostec clarified that the development of the single-engine Su-75 Checkmate was carried out by the Sukhoi Design Bureau (part of UAC). It is noted that the Checkmate version has a high degree of unification with the twin-engine Su-57.

Fighters with one engine are smaller in size, cheaper and more economical in terms of maintenance. They can be used for pilot training, as well as for combat missions.

Earlier it was reported that the use of Su-35 by Russian pilots in combat caused concern in NATO.
