Russian Tanks Get New Arena-M Protection System

The Ministry of Defense has patented a T-72B3M tank model along with the Arena-M

The Ministry of Defense has patented a model of the T-72B3M tank along with the new Arena-M complex, capable of repelling anti-tank weapons of a potential enemy.

The TASS news agency writes about the appearance of a already patented combination with a protection complex on Russian tanks, referring to the description of the patent, which was at the disposal of the editors.

It is noted that the characteristics of the Arena-M allow it to protect the tank from grenades, guided missiles and artillery cumulative shells.

This is due to twelve silos with protective ammunition placed on the brackets of the turret. They provide all-round protection of the tank, taking into account the correction of the position of the ammunition in azimuth in flight after firing.

When enemy ammunition approaches the tank, it ends up under a directed stream of damaging elements from the tank ammunition.

Arena-M was developed by Kolomna KBM. It is part of the High-Precision Complexes holding of the Rostec State Corporation.
